This harissa is a perfect complement to the Roasted Carrot Hummus, or when served as a deeply flavored accompaniment with other dishes with a Middle Eastern or Mediterranean influence. It’s a touch smoky, boldly spiced, and has the perfect bright pop of fresh lemon.
Combine all of the ingredients together, except the salt, in a blender pitcher or food processor and process until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more water as necessary by adding a tablespoon at a time. The texture should be thick but spreadable.
