  • About

Nísperos* are our Colombian version of the kiwi, because they are about the same color on the outside and of similar texture, but brownish red on the inside; the flavor is somewhat different and maybe the yellow kiwi resembles them more than the green. They are great to eat alone or prepared as follows.

  • 4 níperos* (about 1⅓ cups)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup crushed ice

  1. Cut the nísperos in half, remove the 2 large seeds and scoop the pulp out with a spoon.
  2. Blend the pulp with the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Serve immediately in tall glasses.
