Wedding cake

This very special and expensive cake is ideal for all special occasions and is made with great pomp and ceremony. I made it with my Mum in November 2007 and she reminded me that as recently as the 1970s no one in Sri Lanka had ovens at home. When baking a cake the ladies of the house had to organise a time with the village baker when they could place their cake in his oven. If you gave the baker a few rupees he would take good care of the cake for you.
