This recipe makes enough dough for 2 large wreaths. My grandmother Concettina Biazzo Bellia would always make individual little breads, each with 1 egg, for the children. You can do that with half the dough, or save it for another use.


  • 6 cups flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon


Place the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast into the bowl of a mixer equipped with a dough hook. Add cups warm water, oil, and 3 raw eggs. Mix and then knead with the dough hook for 5 minutes. Remove from the mixer, give it a few turns, and shape into a ball. Coat with a little oil, and cover with a lar
