Bring 1 cup water and the butter or shortening to the boil. Add the flour all at once, and stir until the dough comes off the sides of the pan. Remove from the heat, cool for 10 minutes, and add the eggs one at a time, beating the paste until each of the eggs has been absorbed and the paste is smooth.<
