These delicious cookies are the favorites of my brother, Carmelo Bellia, and I still make them with pleasure.


  • 4 ounces lard or butter, chilled
  • 2 cups flour

Cut the chilled butter or lard into small cubes and rub into the flour with your hands until it’s well distributed and resembles coarse sand. Add the egg yolks and the rest of the ingredients except the egg whites and sesame seeds. Knead lightly to form a dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour.

While the dough is chilling, toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet, stirri
