Crunchies were the first item I learnt to bake successfully by myself; they were such a hit that I started baking them for school cake sales and made loads of extra cash doing so. The addition of cocoa nibs makes these crunchies a little classier.

Ingredients

  • 125 g unsalted butter
  • 125 g Demerara sugar
  • 75 ml

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line a 23-cm square baking tin with baking paper.
  2. Melt the butter, sugar and syrup in a large saucepan.
  3. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and leave to cool slightly.
