If you’re looking for unassuming yet impossibly delicious baked goods, look no further than Switzerland’s suite of yeast-raised doughs topped with cream and sugar. In the villages at the base of Mount Vully in the canton of Fribourg, you’ll find the Gâteau de Vully which is known as the Disque d’Or (golden disc). Across the lake in the picturesque town of Murten, they sell Nidelkuchen (cream cake), which you’ll also find in the canton of Bern.
