A close cousin of Austria’s famous Linzertorte, this one is made Swiss by adding, of course, chocolate. The torte comes from the Kloster (monastery) of St. Gallen. Although a written version of the Klostertorte didn’t appear until 1947 when the abbey was no longer in use, it is probable that some version of it had been made in the monastery bakehouses.
