A magnet for children (and my husband), the bright green icing hides an intense chocolate filling. They are typically sold as individual tarts, but you can save yourself the trouble of making lots of little ones by making a big tart and serving thin slices.

Method

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, almonds, sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter in pieces and rub into the flour mixture with your fingers until you have small flakes.

Make a well in the middle of the flour, add the egg and mix gently until a dough forms. Shape the dough into a disc, wrap, and let cool in the fridge for about an hour.
