Icy cold, silky smooth and highly energizing, a frozen Indian lassi is sheer liquid food. Or if you have a juice extractor, try the wake-up juice below.
Place the bananas in a plastic bag and freeze for an hour or two until firm. Whiz the bananas, berries, yoghurt, honey and orange juice together in a blender until smooth and creamy.
Adjust the sweetness (add more honey if the berries are tart) and thickness (add more orange juice to thin the drink if needed). Serve the lassi in chilled glasses.
Scrub the beetroot, apples and ginger clean, and cut into segments small enough to fit into your juice extractor. Juice the beetroot first, then the ginger and finally, the apples, which will help clear the machine of the beetroot. Dilute the wake-up juice with cold filtered water to taste.
