  • About

Making this frosting is so easy that you will soon be mixing up your favorite flavors without even looking at the recipe. Make vanilla first. Next try your hand at a variation or two; then start concocting frostings to complement the cakes you want to make.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • One 1-pound box (

Method

In a medium bowl, beat the butter with a mixer at medium speed until creamy and smooth. Add the confectioners’ sugar, vanilla, and salt, and beat for 1 minute. Add the milk and beat well at high speed, stopping often to scrape down the bowl, until the frosting is smooth and creamy and a nice texture for spreading on your cake.
