I enjoy keeping family traditions alive by preparing pan de muerto (bread of the dead). This is an orange and anise scented bread that is made during the weeks leading up to Día de los Muertos which honors deceased family and friends. There are countless explanations for the meaning of the shape of this bread. The strips of dough that are crossed on top are said to symbolize the bones of the dead while some family members say it represents a skull. The small ball of dough on top is said to
