While this is a simple cake, which we eat with coffee or tea and sometimes for dessert, the flavor combination of red wine and chocolate can’t be beat. This cake is another example of the delicious simplicity of Alsatian cuisine. You can make the cake in a standing mixer with a whisk attachment, but I like doing it the way my mother did it, by hand.
