This is the Alsatian version of a fruitcake, though it’s much more bread-like, loaded with delicious dried fruits and nuts, richly seasoned with spices, and finished with citrus and eau de vie. It’s particularly popular during the holidays, eaten for breakfast with coffee or as a snack.
