I must have tried more than 20 different methods of making everyone’s favourite potato dish, and this is the best.

Ingredients

  • 1 large clove garlic
  • 500 ml milk or half milk,

Method

If baking in a dish, cut the garlic in half and rub the dish with it, then crush the garlic and put in a large saucepan. After a few minutes, when the garlic-rubbed dish has dried, butter the dish well. If baking in a tin, line with baking paper or foil (foil will need buttering), and simply crush the garlic directly into the saucepan.
