When we went to Tibet to meet with Yeshi’s family for the first time since he had left, seventeen years earlier, his parents brought with them some apples from a tree he had planted shortly beforehand. The symbolism of Yeshi’s tree continuing to thrive in his absence was powerful – and the apples tasted amazing. We often remember this gesture when we eat these momos at hom
