Stewart’s Sweet Oatmeal Biscuit

Stewart McConnach was born to bake. His father worked as a head baker in Orkney and some of his first memories are of hanging out with his dad in the bakery. He remembers firing up the coke ovens on Sunday evenings, getting them ready for the bakers coming in to work, and he remembers packing biscuits in his school holidays and preparing the morning supplies for the fishing boats, which was an important part of an island baker’s work.
