Awaze is a berbere-based hot sauce that’s traditionally used to season meat dishes and as a dipping condiment. While awaze variations are limitless, they frequently contain berbere, oil, water, garlic, and a little wine or liquor. Awaze may be used immediately, but it’s even better after it sits in the fridge for a day or two so the flavors can blend.
