  • About

When we were kids growing up in Australia, my mum would keep calling this Tigray’s cake. However, it’s more like a focaccia. However, given most of our diet is spicy, I guess neutral is a cake. Traditionally we only celebrate first birthdays. When a child turns one, a himbasha would be broken in half on their back with the sentiment being around strengthening their back. Maybe this is why my mum feels it’s a cake equivalent.
