Wild strawberries are also known as fraises des bois and Alpine strawberries. These tiny wild strawberries grow in the open patches and meadows of woodlands all over Europe, from Italy in the south to Lapland in Sweden in the north, and in the United States as well. These intensely sweet strawberries are, for good reason, considered the queen of their species. They produce a bounty of fruit from early June until the first frost appears.
