The people who live in the town of Dax, located in the southwestern part of France, are known as Dacquoise, just as the inhabitants of Boston are known as Bostonians. The Dacquoise cake is traditional in that region, especially so in that town, and came to share the name. A classic dacquoise contains layers of Japonaise meringue sandwiched with flavored whipped cream or buttercream, fresh fruit, and/or nuts. In my version, the meringue is formed into pretty individual baskets instead
