My dad’s family is from Italy; my mom’s family is from Italy. And yet I never saw either side bake a fresh Florentine. So I will happily start the tradition! With all the melting, shaping, and drizzling, it’s a fun artsy endeavor, and the result is exquisite. This is one cookie that tastes best immediately after cooling, so you have to pawn them off quickly. I don’t think anyone will mind.
