Mix the sugar, eggs, sour cream and milk. Sift together the soda, salt, spices and one-quarter of the flour, and mix with the liquid. Continue adding enough flour to make a soft dough that is firm enough to roll. Roll out three quarters of an inch thick and cut out doughnuts. Fry in deep fat until golden. Drain on absorbent paper and toss in sugar.
