Loved by the Japanese, crispy Asian pears resemble golden apples, but have the juiciness of the ripest pears. Slightly sweet, they mix beautifully with Bosc or Anjou pears for a very “new” Waldorf salad.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 firm ripe

Method

  1. Mix the water and lemon juice in a large bowl. Core the pears and cut them into ¼-inch pieces, tossing them into the bowl as you work (to prevent discoloration). Leave the pears in the bowl for 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry. Place them in a mixing bowl.
