When plain mashed potatoes just won’t do, add garlic. Don’t overbeat the potatoes—a lump or two makes them real down home!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds all-purpose potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 large head garlic
  • 5 tablespoons

Method

  1. Place the potatoes in a large saucepan, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat slightly and cook until tender, 20 minutes.
