We have mellowed the flavor of a classic mint sauce by adding red wine and orange zest. Still just right with lamb, this more delicate version can even be splashed over a bowl of ripe melon balls and strawberries.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup dry red wine
  • 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • ¾ cup

Method

  1. Heat the wine in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the confectioners’ sugar, and swirl the pan over the heat until the sugar has dissolved. Then transfer the mixture to a bowl, add the vinegar, and allow to cool slightly.
