A twist on the Manhattan, the Rob Roy is said to have originated in 1894 at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria hotel. Its inspiration was the Manhattan premiere of an operetta about the life of Rob Roy MacGregor, known as the Scottish Robin Hood.

  • 2 fl oz (60 ml) blended Scotch whisky
  • 1 fl oz (30

Method

Combine the whisky, vermouth, and bitters in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until well chilled, 20–30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with the cherries pieced together with a cocktail pick.
