This recipe is my own adaptation of an old family recipe for rice porridge which we used to eat at both breakfast and teatime. Black rice porridge and sorbet are in fact deep purple, as striking in colour as they are in flavour. This version, with coconut milk, is a creamy ice that contains no animal products and is therefore acceptable to vegans.
