Ingredients

  • ½ lb. strained honey
  • ½ lb. powdered sugar, sifted
  • ½ lb. blanched almonds, cut in half lengthwise
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 oz. citron, cut very fine
  • teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ cup brandy

Method

Boil sugar and honey, then add almonds and stir thoroughly. Add the rest of the ingredients, more flour if needed, and knead the dough well. Put away in a cool place, well covered, for a week. Roll ½ inch thick and bake in shallow greased pans, in a quick oven. When done cut into strips 1 by 2 inches long. Ice with Lemon Icing.
