This is not strictly a starter, it is a cocktail, but certainly something to start a meal with a bang. I was given the recipe by Alan Kearney, the well-known New York barman, on a recent trip to New York.

He made one for Patricia, our beloved director, upon whom they seemed to have a very strange effect. She took to dancing with strangers in the hotel bar and refused to go to bed, very unlike her.

Delicious – but proceed with caution.

Each Drink Should Be Made of

  • 80 parts lemon vodka
  • 10 parts Cointreau
  • 8 parts cranberry juice
  • 2 parts lime juice

Shake and strain. Lethal!
