If you’re not quite ready to enjoy a papaya that is ripening quickly, or you have one that just doesn’t come up to par, poach it briefly in a flavorful syrup to keep for a few days in the refrigerator.
Serve alongside a meat course, as you might applesauce. Or mix with other fruit, or spoon the golden slices over rice pudding or vanilla pudding.
