Although I tend to be something of a hopeless romantic, Valentine’s Day often brings out the worst in me. All the forced affection, cheap gifts, and downright appalling cards—I can’t help but become a bit cynical about this awkward holiday. Straying from the cutesy candies and truffles, I would much prefer to cater to the disillusioned and serve something a bit more subversive. Jet-black hearts hemorrhaging rich chocolate blood? Pass the fork, please!
