as a garnishPublished 2001
A very cute (some might say precious) fairy-feast garnish to fancify plain-cooked fish or fowl. Preparation is time-consuming, but the dish can be made ahead and heated at the last minute. Do not cook the vegetables until tender—just half-cook them, or a bit more, timing from 2 to 5 minutes for most. Gauge the number of squash and carrots by size: If tiny, use twelve of each; if larger, use six, then halve or quarter.
