1. Raw Carrots

No one knows when cooks and philosophers began debating what actions were required for a dish to be referred to as cooked. For many, heat must be applied to the raw foods for them to be cooked. For now, let’s assume that the process of cooking includes raw carrots that no longer look like those you purchased earlier at the market, and the handling and subsequent minor processing of a raw carrot constitutes a cooking method for this collection.

During my youth in California in the 19
