Although juice may be defined as ‘the liquid obtained from or present in fruit or vegetables’, we tend to differentiate between fruits and vegetables where juice is obvious when the item is cut, such as tomatoes and oranges, and hard items, such as apples and carrots, which require more aggressive methods to obtain their juice. Juice can be extracted from oranges and tomatoes by hand squeezing. For carrots and apples, more forceful mechanization is required.
