  • New Mexican chile powder, 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin, 2 teaspoons
  • Dried oregano

Method

In a small bowl, combine the chile powder, cumin, oregano, and cinnamon, and set aside. In a saucepan, warm the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until it begins to brown, 4 minutes. Add the garlic and sauté for 10 seconds. Stir in the flour and spice mixture and cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute. Whisk in the tomato sauce, broth, and brown sugar and bring to a simmer. Reduce the
