This shredded filo pastry is also known as Knafeh or Kadayif, depending on whether you are referring to the Turkish, Greek or Arabic pastries. It looks a little like Shredded Wheat (the breakfast cereal, that is) and is available from most local Greek or Turkish stores. The finished pastries are sweet and syrupy with a delicious spicy almond filling.
