Pithiviers may well have originated in the town of the same name in France. They are usually made with puff pastry and often enclose a savoury filling. Conjure up your own imaginary trip to France with the baking aromas of this version, using a combination of frangipane and prunes that have been steeped in brandy and rum for several days - it’s a super-sweet treat.
