Mint Julep

Theories abound as to how the idea of a mint julep migrated to the city of Córdoba in Veracruz. It is a favorite cocktail of the state generally, but Córdobans regard it with special pride. Most people agree that it got to Veracruz from the southern United States, and indeed the resemblance to a Kentucky mint julep seems too close to be a coincidence. But I might not dare say that out loud to a Kentuckian, considering what’s in an authentic Veracruzan menyul. It does start out with b
