This canvas cloth is often used when baking baguettes, like our Rustic Italian Baguettes, to help give them their crackly crusts. As the baguettes rise, the cloth helps them keep their shape and keeps the surface of the dough dry, allowing it to form a thin skin. If you don’t have one, use parchment paper instead. The baguettes might have a less-uniform shape, but they’ll still taste delicious.
