  • About
This is a Jewish Hungarian sweet that is made of layers of pie crust in between apple, poppy seed, and walnut filling. It’s relatively plain looking, is definitely unfamiliar, and has a foreign name, all strikes against it. A few of us and a few guests adored it. Our retail staff just couldn’t get behind it, though, and I’d have to remind them daily of how we agreed to display it. They actually teased some of us when we ate it! A critical lesson in retail is that the staff has enormous influence over the success of an item. If they don’t like it, good luck.
