The simplest of the lot, this is simply sieved icing sugar, a liquid - water, lemon juice, rose water - and maybe a colour. It can be drizzled over a batch of small cakes (as in Fairies on Fairy Cakes) or a large cake. Easy to control, to thin it out add more liquid, or to thicken, more icing sugar.
