As ovens vary in their performance, cakes should always be tested before removing in case they require a longer cooking time.
Lightly press the centre of the cake with your fingertips. When ready, it should spring back and the edges should be slightly shrinking from the side of the tin.
Insert a metal skewer into the centre of the cake. It is done when the skewer comes out clean.
