Dried fruits tend to sink to the bottom of cakes. Use this method to help distribute the fruit more evenly.
Fruit for fruitcakes should be chopped into small pieces of uniform size.
Stir the fruit through the flour mixture to help prevent the fruit from sinking during cooking.
When all the ingredients have been added, spoon the mixture into the prepared tin.
