Commercial chilli bean sauces range from mild to very hot, so add the amount you favour according to the brand used and your taste. You can make your own sauce by mixing dried red chillies, ground in a food processor or pestle and mortar, and yellow bean sauce. A ratio of one part ground chillies to two parts bean sauce will produce a moderately hot result.
