  • About
These liquorice-like flavoured seeds are from the bush of the hemlock family. Anise features in cooking of the Mediterranean, where it is a native. Anise has a sweet flavour and is used in both sweet and savoury cooking โ€” in cakes, breads and confectionery, as well as with seafood and meat. It is also used to flavour the alcoholic drinks pernod and ouzo. Buy the seeds whole as the powder quickly loses its flavour. Also known as aniseed and sweet cumin.
