How to... Turn Jelly out of the Mould

Appears in
The Cook's Book of Everything

  • About
To turn out the jelly, use a wet finger to pull it away from the mould all the way around. Invert onto a plate and give the whole thing a firm shake to break the airlock β€” you should hear a squelching noise. If this fails, wrap a warm cloth around the mould for a few seconds and try again. If the jelly seems to have melted too much, refrigerate it again until it sets. If you are turning the jelly out onto a plate, remember that unless you wet the plate first, the jelly will stick and you won’t be able to move it. You can, of course, eat jelly out of the dish it is made in.
