How to…Store Apples

  • About
Don’t store apples next to ethylene-sensitive fruit and vegetables, such as beans, broccoli and zucchini, because the ethylene gas given off by apples causes these fruit and vegetables to deteriorate faster. Similarly, one bad apple in a bag will give off lots of ethylene, causing the other apples to go bad. Apples store well at room temperature, but will maintain their crisp texture for longer if kept in the vegetable crisper of the fridge.
