  • About

Kaiseki ryori is a form of banqueting food which is designed to be accompanied by alcohol (usually sake). As such it is more opulent than cha kaiseki and less formal than honzen ryori (the two other traditional, formal cooking styles). However, it is still very refined in style. It follows the principle of ichiju sansai (soup and three other dishes), but with further additions being made to the meal. It is usually served in a specific order and concludes with rice and pickles.
